Victory Gardens
Narrators and Plots
There are many passages of dialog but no clear narrator.
There are many plot lines which may interact but
never lead to a sense of closure.
Plots and sub-plots proliferate.
Many of the characters are male.
The aggression and violence of the piece
is reflected in the tone and language with which it is portrayed.
From:
One of Our Aircraft
"Holy Jesus," Dexter blurted.
"What was that, a fuckin' B-52?" Sergeant Yvonne shook her head.
"One of those mothers can take the fillings right out your teeth."
She knew this well, having spent some time on the island of Diego Garcia. |

Adventure film
Victory Gardens uses filmic techniques,
or those of the 'action novel'.
The action cuts
from fast paced
to slow, focusing on first one character,
then another in a very external way.
The lexia represent a number of different types of text. Letters, interviews, poems,
conversations, dream sequences.
Differing
fonts are used
for these different texts.
